Students would have learnt how to maintain a steady beat/pulse using their bodies.
Activities include clapping, stomping and tapping their steady beats while singing learnt rote songs. Songs learnt: "Bow Wow Wow" "Charlie Over The Ocean" |
RHYTHM

Once we achieved our steady beat. We went on to explore the concept of rhythm. Rhythm is a the combination of long and short sounds. We write these sounds in the form of musical notes.
We have moved onto switching between our steady beat to clapping the rhythms of our aforementioned rote songs. |
ASSESSMENT #1 AND STORY PARK
Week 5: Sept. 30th - Oct. 4th
SKILL SETS LEARNT:
1. Maintaining a steady beat 2. Performing the rhythm/s of learnt rote songs 3. Ability to audiate Grade 1 students will be assessed on the above (steady beat versus rhythm). These activities and concepts have been explored deeply throughout the term thus far. Students will be expected to maintain a steady pulse either internally (in their minds through audiation) or externally (through tapping, clapping or stomping). Students will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to seamlessly switch between those two skills. See rubric for this assessment. |
